Cool Tool: Smart Power Strip

Two posts in one day!

I think Keven Kelly’s website “Cool Tools” is great. It has everything you could imagine from staplers to power strips! This Smart Power Strip would be a great thing for me. You plug the computer in to a specific outlet, and then the peripherals in the other outlets. When it senses that the computer is turned off, it automatically turns off everything else! Also, when you power it up, it automatically turns on everything again. There is a UK version, but I wonder how long it will take for an Israeli plug…

anti-telemarketing Counterscript

This is great! There is a counterscript for using when you get those annoying telemarketers on the phone. I especially like this because a large number of new immigrants to Israel are being employed by CSM which has a large call center here. While in theory it is great that someone from the US is employing so many Israelis, since they work nights there is some restriction on their ability to improve their Hebrew, and to integrate into Israeli society. (I’ve heard it is one giant Anglo-ghetto.)

One interesting piece about this counter-script is that there is also a Hebrew version!
