The Apartment Search Starts in Earnest

Why do we want out of our apartment?

  • 63 meters is not much space
  • our lease ends in August
  • we live in the most neglected building on the block

So, we’ve started looking for an apartment. We’ve seen a few here and there, but on Friday we took a trip to Elazar (across from Efrat) and saw five apartments! If we were just picking an apartment from the five wouldn’t be so difficult, but the decision to leave Jerusalem is very hard. I keep hearing mixed things about the safety of the road between Jerusalem and Elazar (since we both work in Jerusalem, this would be a daily trek), but I don’t know how to evaluate it. Do I compare it to traffic accidents in Jerusalem? It isn’t easy. The prices are much better, and that is a big concern. On the other hand, we have developed a nice community here in Jerusalem.

I’ll give more reports as they become available….

Another great quote

For some reason I believe that my 5 year old isn’t going to throw me verbal curveballs. She is so smart, that I think she understands things that are beyond her. Today I told her we were going to the hospital to visit a friend who just had a baby girl.

She said she wanted to see if she had holes in her ears. I thought about it and then realized that she thought some people were born with pierced ears! I explained that that is something done by people, (after the babies are born) and that babies aren’t born with holes in their ears!
