The girl club

December 26, 2007

Can you join the club?

  • When your third (or higher #) girl was born, did your friends and acquaintances say to you: “Better luck next time” or “next ones a charm”?
  • Do you refer to your children as “the girls”?
  • Do you know your numbers in Hebrew better in the feminine plural? “יש לי שלוש בנות”
  • Do your friends not care if you are rapidly approaching 40 but still think you should try again for a boy?
  • Does your husband lament never being able to leave the toilet seat up?
  • Does your weekly laundry include at least one load which is only pink/red/purple?
If so then you too can be a charter member in the Girls Club….open to families with three or more girls and no boys allowed.

A week after her birth, I’d like to introduce you all to the latest member of the family. Arriving on the 10th of Tevet (yep, a fast day) weighing 3.86 KG (thats 8 Lbs 6 oz. to you Americans) yet unnamed baby GIRL came into this world.

The labor was more difficult than the previous two (could it be my age?), but both of us are doing well. As you can see big sisters are happy with her arrival. (Now the have someone else to beat up!)

She was born at 40 weeks and 4 days, and I want to give much thanks to Sari, the reflexologist who helped to induce, and Amanda, the amazing Doula who was with us all the way–and all the night.

If anyone out there needs to be induced, or needs a doula, just ask and I’ll give you their information.

Forty weeks plus four days

Sorry for the very sparse blogging. Pregnancy makes me grumpy, and I don’t have enough nice things to say. Being four days past my due date is making it all the worse.

Here is a nice song for you:
